About Us
Latinos in Thailand (Latinos en Tailandia) is the community of Latin Americans and friends of Latin America who live, work, study, or travel in Thailand. We were founded in 2020 with the first TacoFest edition, and in 2026 we opened our doors to the whole region, with a simple goal: to make the distance from home feel a little shorter.
Who we are
We are chefs, designers, teachers, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, partners of Thai nationals, and many others who share a deep love for Latin America and for the land where we now live. We come from Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and beyond. We are based primarily in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, though the community grows every month with members in Koh Samui, Pattaya, and other cities.
What we do
We organize cultural events, dinners, football matches, and informal gatherings to keep our traditions alive in Asia. We maintain a directory of Latino businesses and professionals so you can find everything from an arepa or an authentic taco to a Spanish-speaking accountant. And we help newcomers with practical information on paperwork, housing, jobs, and daily life in Thailand.
Who this is for
For Latin Americans, of course, whichever country you come from. But also for anyone who loves our culture: the food, the music, the art, the attitude toward life. If you identify with that, you are already part of our family. The community welcomes Thai nationals, expats of other nationalities, and anyone who wants to connect with Latin culture.
Our story
It all started in 2020 with the first TacoFest edition in Bangkok: a group of friends looking for decent tacos who found community too. After a long hiatus, in 2026 we relaunched the network with a digital platform and new official events — and widened the house to all of Latin America, because the distance, and the urge to find your people, feel the same wherever you are from. Today the community keeps growing.
Frequently asked questions
Are there many Latinos in Thailand?
More than you might think. It is estimated that between Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket there are several thousand Latin American long-term residents, plus many more tourists per year. The community is small compared to other expat groups, but very close-knit.
How can I join the community?
Simply register on our platform. Registration is free and gives you access to the directory, events, and community communication channels.
Are there Latino restaurants in Bangkok?
Yes, and the number is growing. Our community includes several chefs and owners of Latino restaurants in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. You will find the best ones — selected by community members — in our directory.
What kinds of events do you organise?
Community dinners, each country’s national holiday celebrations, football matches, cooking classes, live music nights, networking meetups, and much more.
Is it for one country only?
No. The community is open to all of Latin America and to anyone who loves the region and its culture. Thai nationals, Japanese, Europeans, and Latin Americans from any country are all welcome.
